Not Just a Mom- Self Care

Hi everyone and happy March. If you haven't been here before, welcome! Every second Monday of the month, Adrienne, Lauren, Dara, Sarita and I host this fun link up, "Not Just a Mom!" Last month we talked about how we did date-night, and the month before we introduced ourselves. This month we are talking self-care. I am so thankful for my friend Adrienne, because I almost forgot all about my own link up!!! I was so focused on my post recapping our weekend, that I almost forgot my self-care post. So my post today is short and sweet, so sorry about that. Here's what I do for self-care...

If I am ever feeling stressed, I try to go spend some time by the beach... The cool breeze and sound of the waves is a great place to get into a better headspace and practice mindfulness.

When I first had Ella, we used to take a lot of walks to the beach because I was really anxious. Honestly, it really helped!

Something that is really important to me is ME time. I think having some time to myself everyday is my most important self-care. I like to start every single day with a bit of "me time." I love waking up early, before everyone else, usually around 5. I make a big cup of coffee and browse the internet, work on my blog or read the news.

Sometimes I sit down and make my to-do list for the day. Something about starting the day off with a cup of coffee to myself in peace is really good for my soul.

I also try to write in my gratitude journal and write in a few things things I was thankful for the day before. Simple mornings to myself are honestly the most important part of my self-care. I get crabby if I don't get this time to myself in the morning.

When I have time to myself at home, one thing I LOVE to do that makes me feel SO much better is organizing.  I did some deep organizing of our kitchen cupboards the other day, and let me tell you, I have never felt better, hahaha.

An organized home = an organized mind and it makes me feel so good.

I always feel better when I feel well manicured. That means plucking my brows, shaving my legs and doing my makeup. I was getting my hair done regularly as well, but I have taken a break from that. I'm not a 'get your nails done' kind of person, but I know that's self-care for a lot of my other Mom friends. Self care is anything you do to make yourself feel good, and it's really that simple!

I can't wait to see what you all do for your self-care. Don't forget to grab the graphic & link up. If you weren't prepared this month, in April we're going to go over our cleaning routine!!

  1. If we lived closer to the beach I'd definitely walk there as often as I could. I do find the sound of the waves to be so relaxing.

  6. Glad I helped you remember about our link up. You know I live not far from Lake Erie and it has been a long time since I walked the beach. It is a lot different than the ocean though.
