Hi everyone! Today we wanted to share our cozy family room reading space. Reading is such an important part of a child's brain development, and we wanted to make sure we had several reading spots in our home, so Ella is always surrounded by beautiful books.
This bookshelf is an open-faced shelf, and is designed to be more appealing to your toddler. When your toddler can see the covers of the books, they are more likely to be interested in reading them. I love our shelf, and am so blessed that my coworkers got it for us as a baby shower gift for Mia. Ella and Mia will get many years of use out of this shelf! As far as books go, we try to get them second-hand as much as possible. I have also found the websites bookbundler.com and kidsbooks.com to be great resources for cheaper books!
Here are some of our favorite Spring reads right now!
Bloom Bloom by April Sayre - A beautiful picture book to celebrate the start of Spring and all things that bloom.
Where's the Ladybug by Nosy Crow
Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Will You Be My Sunshine by Julia Lobo
Charlie the Caterpillar by Dom Deluise
Ten Wriggly Wiggly Caterpillars by Tiger Tails
The Wind Blew by Pat Hutchins
I Love Colors by Margaret Miller
Hide and Seek Ladybugs by Paul Bright
Those are several of our current favorites! We have many that I have saved that I want to purchase for the future and I wanted to share those with you too!
These are all on my list! I want to get more books with realistic/lifelike pictures, as Montessori really believes in using realistic images whenever possible. The next time one of my discount book sites offers a discount code or sale, I will probably order some!
What are some of your toddler's favorite books right now?

Love this cute space. I wish we had the space to do something like this. or get rid of a lot and minimize.
ReplyDeleteWe are really fortunate that when we were searching for a home that we found one this size in our budget. We definitely did NOT have room for something like this before we bought our current house. Watch a few videos of The Minimalist Mom on youtube and you will be inspired to get rid of EVERYTHING LOL.
