Hi friends! I am so sorry it has taken me so long to do an update, but balancing two kiddos is a whole lot of work! I can't wait till we find a rhythm and I can start blogging more regularly as it really does make so so happy to share our life with you all. I had some time to blog this morning, so I wanted to share some fun and exciting news... Ella started Montessori School!
Ella is attending the toddler program 3 days a week. She goes from 9-3, which is a long day for our sweetie who has only been taken care of by her parents or grandparents at home. On her first day, Ella was SO excited and ready. She shocked me with her bravery as she didn't even cry when I dropped her off. The second day and third day... well, we didn't get so lucky. But she is definitely getting more comfortable and after speaking to her teachers, I know she's going to thrive in school.
How do I feel about putting Ella in 'school' during a pandemic? To be honest, a bit nervous...
We had wanted Ella to start some type of daycare or program last year, but Covid-19 was really bad in our area last Fall, (I was also pregnant and unvaccinated) so we decided to wait. Obviously this year we have a new friend, the Delta-variant. We decided as a family that we were going to proceed with putting Ella in school anyway. I feel like the socialization is so important for her, and she has been lacking that for the last year and a half. I see the difference in her vs our friend's children who have always been around other kids. I don't think there's anything wrong with our careful observant child... but I want her to have all the opportunities she deserves, including to make friends. We know that this virus is now something that is going to be amongst us, and just like with the flu and RSV we need to be extra careful- especially with an infant at home. I feel better knowing that Michael and I are both vaccinated, as well as Michael's parents. It's the best we can do right now and hopefully we get through the first half of this school-year infection free! *Fingers crossed!*
How is Ella doing in school despite her health issues over the Summer?
I mentioned a while back that Ella was having some GI issues. I ended up cutting back my work schedule because of it, not knowing if and when Ella would be able to start school and if she was attending, how the GI stuff would affect her attendance. Luckily we have been okay so far. She still has the issues, but with the medicine prescribed by the specialist she is doing okay. I am so happy she has been able to go and that the stress of the new experience and environment hasn't seemed to make things worse. I am also thankful to be home more. I enjoy working so much but right now, my girls are coming first.
My beautiful, capable, independent and intelligent Ella is thriving and I can't wait to share more with you about how she is doing in the upcoming months.
-Ashley xoxo
Hooray, Ella! So very exciting for your family :)
